One day last month, Oliver Moorhouse was on a normal shift on Blackpool pier when he heard two boys screaming. They had fallen into the sea and were fighting for their lives as the incoming tide threatened to batter them against the pier or sweep them away.

Without thinking twice, Oliver dashed round to the beach and went in after the boys, saving both of them and becoming something of a local hero.
